Newcastle United reportedly have an interest in RB Leipzig attacker Ademola Lookman – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are excited about the speculation.

German Bundesliga side Leipzig splashed out £22.5million (BBC) to sign him from Everton last summer, but he could return back to England.

Sky Germany reports that Newcastle are preparing a move for the 22-year-old, which would be an initial loan offer for the rest of the campaign with an option to buy also included.

It is understood that the English winger could leave Germany this January transfer window after a difficult spell.

Lookman spent half of the 2017/18 campaign with Leipzig on loan, scoring five goals and supplying four assists in just 11 games during that spell

The left-winger spent the following season in the Premier League with Everton and struggled for regular opportunities, which saw him depart for Leipzig permanently in the summer.

He’s only managed four appearances this season across all competitions and it looks like he need a fresh move to reignite his career.

Lookman is still a young talented star with a lot of potential and he’s got explosive pace that can terrorise defences.

A selection of Newcastle supporters on social media are convinced that Lookman would be a good signing if the club can complete it.

There is a distinct lack of quality in the final third within Steve Bruce’s squad and the versatile winger would bolster options.
