The latest reports suggest that Newcastle United want to bolster their midfield, and Khepren Thuram is apparently a target for the Premier League club.

According to The Telegraph, the French midfielder is a “relatively new name” on their list. He “would fit the model” of what they want to sign – promising young players.

Thuram is 22 years old and is currently playing for Ligue 1 club Nice. He is a key player for the club and has also attracted interest from Liverpool as well as Newcastle.

Indeed, The Independent previously claimed that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp sees the Frenchman as an ideal solution to their midfield problems.

The Telegraph report suggested that not every signing will go straight into the Newcastle first-team when they arrive. They will also add competition and cover.

Newcastle interested in Khephren Thuram

The midfielder, who reportedly has a price tag of £53million, will no doubt continue to attract interest until he finds a new club.

Nice will be in no hurry to sell Thuram. This is due to the fact that his contract doesn’t expire until June 2025.

Despite this, the Frenchman may force a move as he looks to play for a Champions League side over a side in mid table.

Newcastle are really looking to strengthen their squad. This is so that they can compete in Europe and also in all domestic competitions next season.

The “fantastic” midfielder would be a great option for the Magpies. The player is the son of legendary footballer Lilian Thuram. The defender played for both Juventus and Barcelona.

Interestingly, Newcastle have also been linked with signing Marcus Thuram. The attacking player is the brother of Khephren Thuram. We could see a family reunion at St.James’ Park.

This will be a very exciting transfer window for Newcastle United. They have gone for battling relegation to competing with some big teams in Europe for signings.
