Newcastle United have been linked with Kieran Trippier for a number of months.
And according to ESPN, Atletico Madrid expect the Magpies to make a bid for the England international.
Newcastle are seeking reinforcements in the January transfer window.

Although the Magpies have plenty of financial muscle behind them, they remain in Premier League trouble.
Trippier, a veteran full-back with plenty of Premier League experience, would be a great shout for Eddie Howe.
The 31-year-old left Tottenham in 2019 to link up with Atleti and won La Liga in his second season.
However, Trippier’s club is reportedly aware the player is open to a Premier League return.
And Atletico are reportedly expecting Newcastle to bid over 20m euro (£17m) for Trippier in January.
In addition, ESPN claims two purported Magpies transfer rivals aren’t looking to make a move.
There’s no indication of firm interest from Spurs, while Manchester United are apparently prioritising midfielders.
Eurosport reported earlier this week that Eddie Howe had “sold the club to Trippier and his camp”.
As far as transfer rumours go, this one seems to have legs, and Newcastle fans should keep tabs on this story.
Trippier has made 428 competitive senior club appearances during his career. In addition, he has 35 caps for England.
