Tottenham and Everton are monitoring Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, according to Chronicle Live.

The Premier League duo are firm admirers of the stopper who is currently on a season-long loan at Swansea City.

Woodman is contracted with Newcastle until 2021 but the Magpies may have a decision to make during the summer.

The ex-England under-21 goalkeeper has kept eight clean sheets during his time at the Liberty Stadium. It seems unlikely that he will want to stay at Newcastle unless he is guaranteed some assurances over his playing time.

Martin Dubravka is currently the first choice custodian at St James’ Park. Two years ago, Woodman actually refused to sign a new deal due to him being told he was third in command.

Everton and Tottenham could both be attractive propositions for Woodman.

Both typically challenge for Europe more than Newcastle and the size of the clubs could turn his head.

Hugo Lloris at Tottenham isn’t getting any younger, whilst Jordan Pickford has come under fire at Everton for some poor form.

Woodman is viewed as a future prospect. Newcastle would be wise to try and keep him but they could be powerless.

TBR Verdict – Woodman should be kept at St James’ Park

The youngster is in stunning form at Swansea City. He has done all that could be expected and proved himself to be a capable pair of hands.

On that basis, Steve Bruce should make him part of his squad for next season.

Karl Darlow is out of contract and will probably leave, along with Rob Elliot who is also yet to agree on fresh terms.

With Newcastle not known for splashing the cash on a regular basis, they should be trusting youth and that includes Woodman.

He won’t force Dubravka out just yet but allowing him to play in the cup competitions and act as his understudy might be enough to keep him around.
