‘Sharp and strong’: Newcastle fans react to performance of Elias Sorensen in Wolves defeat

The Dane showed a few decent touches when he came on in the second half.

Newcastle United were beaten 4-0 by Wolves in the Premier League Asia Trophy earlier today.

Newcastle announced the appointment of Steve Bruce as the club’s new manager (Official Website), prior to the game.

The 4-0 hammering by their Premier League rivals ensures plenty of work to do for the club’s new boss.

Wolves were three goals to the good at the break.

Newcastle did improve during the second period.

The Magpies couldn’t go the half without conceding, however. A Tom Allan own goal in the 86th minute ensuring a rout for Wolves.

Despite the loss, Newcastle supporters did find one positive to take from the game.

With 27 minutes of the contest remaining, Elias Sorensen was introduced as a substitute.

The 19-year-old has proved a frequent goalscorer through the academy ranks but hasn’t yet made his first-team debut in a competitive game.

Last season he went on loan to Blackpool but managed just one appearance.
