Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has potentially given an injury boost ahead of his team’s match against Sheffield United.
The Magpies travel to Bramall Lane on Thursday night to face Sheffield United in the Pmreier League, which is likely to prove a tough encounter.
Newcastle are 14th in the league table as it stands, while their upcoming opponents are three points better off and sit in eighth.
Bruce has confirmed (official Twitter) in his pre-match press conference that the first-team duo of DeAndre Yedlin and Andy Carroll have both trained for the past two days.
They “could be involved” against Brighton if there are no aggravations to an injury problems.
Magpies defender Yedlin has missed just one match with a hip injury, which was the weekend’s 2-2 draw against Manchester City.
Meanwhile, centre-forward Carroll has also been absent for just one game with a rib injury and watched the draw at St James’ Park. from the sidelines.
With such a busy December ahead, Bruce should take the cautious approach on Thursday and perhaps bring back his senior pair to the bench.
Carroll is unlikely to earn a starting role regardless of his fitness and he’s at St James’ Park to make an impact in second-halfs, but injuries have always plagued his career.
Yedlin is someone that usually starts when fit for Newcastle and the speed machine was in decent form before his mini setback.
But teammate Javier Manquillo replaced him superbly well against Manchester City and should keep his spot on Thursday.
