Newcastle United could be about to sign a really talented player on the continent.
The Tynesiders have made a pretty slow start to the summer transfer window but business is now expected to really accelerate ahead of the fast approaching Premier League season.
Eddie Howe is in the market for another centre-back following Lloyd Kelly’s arrival and with that said, they could be about to sign one of Europe’s best.

Newcastle could be about to sign Malick Thiaw
Daily Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards has taken to X and suggested that Newcastle could be about to sign AC Milan centre-back Malick Thiaw.
Edwards said the Tynesiders are close to making a ‘breakthrough’ in their recruitment and named Thiaw as a possible incoming. He also noted that it could be a player who’s hardly been mentioned in the media.
Thiaw seems to be the most likely potential arrival given Newcastle have been in talks with Milan over the last few weeks.
The 22-year-old defender is expected to cost in the region of £38m and has been labelled as one of the ‘greatest talents’ in Europe, per Bild.
Newcastle also linked to Arda Guler
Another name that has been touted with a move to Newcastle in recent hours is Real Madrid’s wonderkid Arda Guler.
TBR football reported on Tuesday that The Magpies submitted a £67m bid for Guler’s signature, though, it seems very unlikely Madrid will accept.
The Turkey international starred at Euro 2024 and is expected to play a key role for the La Liga giants this season.
Federico Chiesa could be an option, too, as he’s been made available by Juventus for around £25m due to his contract situation.
