Newcastle can atone for Bowen failure by landing report target Benrahma

Newcastle United are being linked with a move for Brentford star Said Benrahma.

According to a report from The Sun, the Magpies are ready to fight Leicester City for the winger, with both apparently willing to pay £15 million for his services.

Benrahma is considered by many as one of the Championship’s best players, having been a breath of fresh air for the Bees since his arrival from Nice in 2018.

The Algerian, who netted a hat-trick against Hull City at the weekend, has certainly been drawing attention to himself with his flair and eye for a trick, and Brentford could have a real battle on their hands to keep him, especially if they fail to seal promotion.

Newcastle’s interest in the player comes after they missed out on Jarrod Bowen in January.

The Toon Army were linked for most of the window, but were pipped by West Ham United in the end.

Newcastle’s loss there is most definitely the Hammers’ gain, but Steve Bruce can make up for that failure with a move for Benrahma this summer.

TBR’s view – Benrahma creativity just what Newcastle need

Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron are slowly but surely beginning to improve, but there is little else in terms of creativity and goals.

Newcastle could sign Bowen, but Benrahma has been tearing up the Championship just like the English forward and could improve the Magpies’ attacking output.

He doesn’t score as many goals as Bowen, but his average of 3.7 shots per 90, 2.3 key passes per 90 and 3.2 dribbles per 90 (WhoScored) would suggest he’s a man capable of making things happen.
