Newcastle boost as report claims £43k-a-week midfielder wants PL rival to sanction a loan

Newcastle United have seemingly received a transfer boost, with The Sun reporting that Billy Gilmour wants to leave Chelsea on loan in the summer window.

Gilmour is one of the most exciting prospects in the Premier League. And it was recently suggested that he had caught Steve Bruce’s eye.

Newcastle reportedly want the 19-year-old on loan. Of course, the Magpies know just how game-changing an inspired loan move can be.

The Northern Echo reported that talks had been held with the Blues. But it was not clear what the club’s plans for Gilmour were.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea do decide to loan him out. But it does appear that the Magpies have received a boost in their pursuit of the Scotland international.

According to The Sun, Gilmour is now keen to leave Stamford Bridge on loan next season. It is suggested that he is hoping to impress at Euro 2020 and earn a top flight move this summer.

Newcastle loan looks a no-brainer for Gilmour after Willock success on Tyneside

Thomas Tuchel may yet to decide to hold onto Gilmour. But if he is available, a Newcastle loan looks to make a lot of sense.

The Magpies are a club with a massive fanbase. That would certainly help a player looking to make the grade towards the top of the table.

Joe Willock could have hardly done more to prove a point to Arsenal while on loan at Newcastle this past season.

Even if his future does not lie at the Emirates, he has surely ensured that plenty of clubs will be prepared to offer him a key role this summer.

Of course, few loan spells turn out so successfully. But Gilmour – who earns around £43,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – looks to have a scary amount of talent.

So he would have every chance of proving an inspired addition – if Chelsea are prepared to let him go.
