Allan Saint-Maximin moved to St James’ Park for £16.tmillion (BBC) in the summer and that immediately meant there was a lot of expectation on the Newcastle star.

The 22-year-old has had a mixed start to life in English football that has been impacted by a spate of injuries so far, which means he’s been unable to build any serious momentum.

But the French attacker has a compelling statistic when it comes to the team’s win percentage with him and it suggests how important he already is to Steve Bruce’s side.

The Magpies have won eight of the 16 matches this season he’s featured in across all competitions with a 50 per cent winning ratio.

But they only have a 14 per cent winning ratio when he’s not been involved with just two victories in 14 games.

It’s felt like he’s been a big miss on the pitch whenever he’s been sidelined and results prove that has been the case.

Saint-Maximin scored an extra-time winner in midweek to beat Oxford United 3-2 in an FA Cup fourth round replay and it was a brilliant piece of individual quality for his strike.

The left-winger has shown he’s got a tremendous dribbling ability that can terrorise full-backs and his pace is electric too, with fans getting a glimpse into his quality this campaign.

He’s scored two goals and supplied two assists so far in a Newcastle shirt, but the exciting thing for supporters is that the best should still be just around the corner from him.

The dazzling wide player is going to benefit so much from a regular run of games and staying free of an injuries during the rest of the campaign would be massive for him.

It looks like Newcastle have a star in the making in their ranks and Saint-Maximin can definitely improve them as an offensive unit.
