Newcastle are reportedly trying to sign player Carragher claims has ‘more quality than Mason Mount’

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has already given his view on Christian Pulisic, who is a target for Newcastle.

The Magpies have been linked with a swoop for Chelsea wideman Pulisic as they continue their search for improved quality out wide.

Earlier this year, Carragher said that Pulisic has the quality to be a regular starter in Thomas Tuchel’s side.

But he has failed to fully establish himself at Stamford Bridge, thanks in part to inconsistency and fitness issues.

“I tell you why I get frustrated because what we’re seeing right now is about four or five players for Chelsea who can play in these positions,” he said.

“(Pulisic) has got the most quality. He has more quality than Mason Mount, he’s got more quality than Ziyech, I think he’s got more quality than Havertz.

“Technically and moving with the ball he’s the best player I’ve seen, I just don’t see it enough.

“A lot of that is to do with his injury record, that is something that has to improve because I think he should be a certain starter in that position.”

Pulisic may decide that he needs to go somewhere and get a platform to show his quality on a more regular basis before the end of the transfer window.

Newcastle could offer him more gametime and a chance to really prove what he can do in the Premier League with a run in the team.

He is seemingly not the only Chelsea player Newcastle are looking at and the Magpies are not the only potential suitor so we will wait to see how this one plays out.
