Newcastle and Everton boost, as Arsenal reportedly willing to sell Nicolas Pepe
Goal say Arsenal are willing to sell Nicolas Pepe ahead of the January window with Newcastle, Everton and Crystal Palace all reportedly keen on signing the Ivory Coast international.
Pepe, 26, is struggling for game time at Arsenal. This season, he has been afforded just seven Premier League appearances for Arsenal – last appearing in the league back in the middle of October.
Ever since his £72million move to Arsenal from Lille, Pepe has struggled to repay his fee – clocking up 25 goals in 98 games. He has been far below the expectation of Arsenal fans, especially given the transfer fee.
Back in November, Jeunes Footeux claimed that Newcastle, Everton and Palace are interested in signing Pepe ahead of the January window. Now, the reports from Goal say Arsenal could be willing to sell.
But the report does state that Arsenal might wait until the summer window to wave goodbye to Pepe. That is, because it is difficult to sell players from the club for the right price in January.
Arsenal could sell Pepe: Newcastle, Everton or Palace for winger?
Everton have brought in Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray. While Pepe would be an improvement on both, the duo are in solid form for the Toffees and Pepe would be better off going to Newcastle.
Similarly, Palace have Ebere Eze, Jordan Ayew, Wilf Zaha and Michael Olise. At Newcastle, they lack a right-winger. Ryan Fraser is good, but he is not consistent enough and Pepe offers a big improvement.
A front three of Pepe, alongside Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin, a move to Tyneside is ideal for Pepe.
