Report: Newcastle have now agreed a fee and personal terms for 'special' player...but there's a big problem
Newcastle United are trying to push on to get a deal to sign Hugo Ekitike over the line, but there’s a big problem for Dan Ashworth to contend with.
According to 90Min, Newcastle have agreed to personal terms with Ekitike and also come to a deal with Reims on the fee to be paid to sign the young striker. Further to that, Newcastle are so far down the line that they’d even been planning on flying Ektike over to complete his medical in the northeast.
However, 90Min reports that Newcastle and new chief, Dan Ashworth, are hitting the same brick wall when it comes to getting Ekitike’s agents to sign off the deal. It’s claimed the Magpies are becoming increasingly annoyed at what they deem to be the agent using their interest to drum up offers from elsewhere. Namely, PSG and Dortmund.

Even more annoying for the Mags is that the ‘special’ Ekitike is thought to be keen on joining the club and getting the deal done.
Newcastle will no doubt keep at it and 90Min does add that Ashworth has told Eddie Howe he is confident in getting the deal over the line eventually.
TBR’s View: Ekitike Needs To Sign For Newcastle Soon…Or Change Agents
This is a classic case of a player’s agent simply trying to get as much out of a deal – financially – as possible. And while there’s nothing wrong with that to an extent, there comes a point when the transfer needs finishing up.
Ekitike clearly wants to move to Newcastle. He’s set to triple his wages, play under a good manager, get game time, and be part of one of the biggest projects in European football over the coming years.
If this drags on longer and Newcastle pull out, then Ekitike will only have certain people to blame.
