Newcastle United fans are clamouring for the club to secure full-back Jetro Willems on a permanent deal, after a brilliant start to life at St. James’ Park.
The Dutch defender has become a popular figure with supporters having deputised excellently for the injured Matt Ritchie at left wing-back.

The star has helped himself to a couple of goals, but his all-round game seems strong, and many are wondering what the situation is regarding his contract with the Toon Army.
Those wanting the club to act swiftly may be disappointed to learn that the Magpies won’t actually be able to trigger Willems’ option-to-buy until April.
That’s according to a report from The Chronicle, who suggest a re-negotiation could take place with his parent club Eintracht Frankfurt.
That said. they add there has been no contact so far and it is not currently a priority.
TBR’s view – No rush over Willems
It is understandable Newcastle fans want Willems snapped up on a permanent deal after the start he’s had.

But perhaps it is a good thing the current option cannot be triggered until April, as there will be less pressure on the 25-year-old.
The last thing that’s needed is for something to potentially derail the consistency of one of United’s best players this season.
