A newly-appointed national team manager has now urged one of Arne Slot’s Liverpool players to seek a move from the club as soon as possible.
Right now, it seems as if Liverpool are beginning to formalise their summer transfer plans, starting a little later than most.
Richard Hughes and his team needed to afford Slot time to assess his squad before they made any moves – and in truth, the Liverpool manager may still be deciding.
But the club are now making progress, and Liverpool have reportedly submitted an enquiry for Mohamed Simakan, who could follow a similar career path to Ibrahima Konate if he heads to Anfield.
That being said, as well as signing a new centre-back, Liverpool are also thought to have discussed the addition of a holding midfielder and a wide-forward.
But in their summer plans, Liverpool won’t necessarily be intending to find a replacement for number two goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Kelleher is reportedly ready to leave Liverpool, believing he’s now worth of being a number one.
And his new Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson has now encouraged him to do exactly that.
Ireland manager says Caoimhin Kelleher is too good to be number two at Liverpool
Speaking via the Irish times, newly-appointed Icelandic coach Hallgrimsson said that £25m-rated Kelleher has proven that he can play at the highest level already.
He stated: “Of course he needs a move out, especially when he showed everyone that he can play at the highest level.
“It would be a shame if he’s not playing regularly after he has already shown everyone how good he is, the level he played at.”
Of course, in a summer in which Alisson is constantly linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, Liverpool won’t want to lose Kelleher.
The club have already reluctantly lost Adrian, meaning they’ve promoted Vitezslav Jaros as their new number three.
And as seen when Alisson was injured during Jurgen Klopp’s last season, having Kelleher around was crucial – a goalkeeper who arguably would be ready to start for Liverpool.
It’s a delicate situation, and one that Slot could probably cope without during his early weeks at the club.
But from Kelleher’s perspective, it might not be a bad idea to stay for at least another six-months, when his chances under the Dutchman will be a lot clearer.
