New Leeds signing Helder Costa posts on Instagram, Sheffield Wednesday star responds

Helder Costa has posted on his Instagram for the first time since being confirmed as a Leeds United player on Wednesday afternoon – and Sheffield Wednesday attacker Lucas Joao has responded.

Costa, 25, has signed a deal which sees him join Leeds on loan for 12 months from Wolverhampton Wanderers, before he signs an obligatory permanent deal next summer. He is contract at Elland Road until 2023.

The Whites have chosen to splash £15million (Mirror) on the Portugal international after he helped guide Wolves into the Premier League during 2017-18. He has 15 goals and 14 assists during 71 games in the Championship.

Costa has now taken to Instagram for the first time as a Leeds player, thanking Wolves for his time at the club and looking forward to his new challenge at Leeds. Sheffield Wednesday star Joao replied.

Joao’s reply is translated as: “Good luck mate, explode.”

TBR’s view – Costa will start over Clarke

Costa is an excellent signing for Leeds, and will instantly become a starter on the left flank for the Whites. It means Jack Harrison and Jack Clarke are likely to suffer.

Pablo Hernandez is likely to start from the right once again this season, though Marcelo Bielsa may move the Spaniard into central midfield given he is now 34 years of age and has lost a yard of pace.

The likelihood remains, though, that Clarke and Harrison may have to make do with a place on the bench.
