Mauricio Pochettino will block Tottenham Hotspur starlet Troy Parrott from joining up with his national side. According to The Irish Independent, Parrott will not team up with the Republic of Ireland U19 team for the upcoming European Championships.

Tom Mohan had hoped to have Parrott available for the tournament. But Pochettino has rejected Ireland’s plea, instead opting to use Parrott in pre-season for Tottenham.

Parrott is a highly-rated young striker who is tipped for a bright future. And Pochettino will run the rule over him in pre-season before making a decision on whether to include him in the first-team.

The 17-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut but he has already been included in matchday squads. And his record for the Spurs youth teams indicates his undoubted talent.

Parrott scored 15 goals in just 12 games in the U18 Premier League last season. Tottenham need a back-up to Harry Kane and many fans feel the teenager is already in a position to fill that role.

Here are some tweets capturing the reaction of Spurs fans after learning that Pochettino will use Parrott in pre-season.
