Harry Kane is showcasing a new skill this season and it’s exactly what his new Tottenham Hotspur teammate needs going forward.
Harry Kane is one of the world’s best goalscorers but he’s got a new skill this season. The Tottenham Hotspur striker is effortlessly creating goals for teammates.

Now, Kane has set up goals before, of course. He got seven assists in 16/17, for instance, but it’s never been a consistent thing. Last season he only got two, of example.
It’s quite ridiculous, then, that Kane has nine already this season. It’s already his best-ever return and he’s only played nine games – and not even more than 45 minutes in some cases.
We saw that ninth assist against Ludogorets on Thursday as he set up Lucas Moura. Kane looks like a wonderfully natural playmaker and that’s exactly what one new teammate needs.
Influential
Gareth Bale is back at Spurs, of course. He’s on loan from Real Madrid and hoping to revitalise his career back at the place that he played his best football.
But it’ll take work. Bale hasn’t played like a star in quite some time and while the talent is there, things need to click into place. Thank God for Kane, then.
The England captain is allowing for an attack that plays with freedom, rather than a set gameplan. They don’t need to score through one player and don’t need to create through one player. Everyone can play their natural game and the pressure is off in that regard.
Things would be far tougher for Bale if he was coming into a rigid attack. If he needed to supply Kane or needed to score the goals, getting up to speed becomes a more complicated job.
Instead, he can just play his game. If he finds opportunities to score, the players around him will provide the pass. If he wants to be creative himself, he’s got the goalscorers around him to supply. He has the freedom to fit into this attack however he can.
This wouldn’t be the case if Kane were having a more selfish season. Thankfully, though, he’s got a new world-class skill – and that should help Bale get back to his best.
