Sheyi Ojo notched his second goal for Rangers on Thursday night as the Scottish side continued their climb to the Europa League group stages – which impressed a new Aston Villa signing and Jerome Sinclair.
Ojo, 22, joined Liverpool on a season-long loan earlier this summer and he scored on his debut in a 4-0 away win over St. Joseph’s in Gibraltar. He has now added a second in his second appearance.
The winger curled an effort home from the edge of the area with his weaker right foot, and he posted on Instagram after the match to which Bjorn Engels and Watford ace Sinclair replied.
Ojo played alongside Engels last season at Stade Reims, while Ojo was a teammate of Sinclair’s at Liverpool before the latter moved to Watford for £4million (Sun). Both players commented on the Liverpool loanee’s post.
TBR’s view – Ojo different class for Rangers again
Ryan Kent who? Rangers fans were desperate to see their club sign Kent before the start of the window, but now Steven Gerrard has brought in Ojo, talk of Kent has subsided.
Indeed, two goals in his first two games sees Ojo already a third of the way to equalling Kent’s tally for 2018-19 – though the latter did also lay on nine assists.
Ojo has been sensational for Rangers in his two opening appearances, but there will be much harder tasks to come throughout the 2019-20 campaign.
