Aston Villa new-boy Trezeguet has credited international team-mates Ahmed Elmohamady with influencing his decision to move to Villa Park.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the Egyptian said his international captain talked up the club and answered a lot of questions about life at Villa.
He said: “Ahmed is a good friend of mine. He’s like my brother, who I’ve played in the national team with for five years. It will help having him here with me and I look forward to working with him again.
“He’s my captain and always speaks with me about Aston Villa, saying it’s an amazing club and that I’d be happy here. I asked him a lot of questions. He will help me and believes I will help the team.”

It’s not particularly surprising that Elmohamady – who joined Villa for a reported (BBC) £1 million back in 2017 – was in contact with Trezeguet.
The negotiations seemed to go on through the African Cup of Nations, where the pair were playing together, and Elmohamady was always going to talk up the club in order to help get the winger over the line.
It will also help in terms of settling in that Trezeguet already knows one of his new team-mates so well, because he will need to hit the ground running.
