New Arsenal teenager says he idolises Wilfried Zaha, Gunners reportedly beat Southampton

Joel Ideho has told AllNigeriaSoccer that he idolises Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, claiming his game is inspired by the Ivorian winger after completing a move to Arsenal on deadline day.

The report claims Arsenal beat Southampton and Hertha Berlin to the signing of 17-year-old winger Ideho on deadline day, and that the Dutch winger has signed a contract with the Gunners that will keep him in north London until the summer of 2023.

Renowned for his speed and trickery, Ideho has clocked up four appearances for Ajax’s Under-18 side – and twice for the Under-19 outfit in the UEFA Youth League. He joined alongside Swedish striker Nikolaj Moller.

Ideho gave a brief interview to ANS and stated that he idolises and is inspired by Zaha, who continues to be strongly linked with a move to the Gunners. He also explained why he chose to join Arsenal, over other interested parties.

7 Footballers Playing In The WRONG Position

“Arsenal had a strong and better plan for me than the other clubs and I personally think I will develop better at Arsenal than the other clubs,” Ideho said, when asked about his move to Mikel Arteta’s side.

“I would say that my game is inspired by Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace because he’s a creative player with fast pace. My strengths would be my pace and my actions one-v-one”.

TBR’s view – Arsenal could have a gem on their hands

Certainly, his ambition and confidence is sky high. As a 17-year-old rookie, to say your game is moulded on Zaha, is a big claim. But if he shows anything like the quality of Zaha, then surely he could be a proper signing.

Given that he was already making waves at Ajax and attracted interest from European clubs other than Arsenal, Ideho is clearly a big talent. Getting into the Arsenal Under-18 side, with a view to an Under-23 debut, should be next on his radar.
