Neville Southall has claimed in his iNews column that he does not believe Everton is the right fit for Theo Walcott, as the former England international struggles to achieve his best form at the Merseyside club.
Walcott, who turns 31 in March, joined Everton for £20million (Telegraph) from Arsenal in January 2018. He came with enormous pedigree, boasting 47 England caps and 399 appearances for the Gunners – in which he scored 108 goals.
The three-time FA Cup winner has not enjoyed as much as success on Merseyside, though. Indeed, Walcott has scored just 10 goals in 77 games – 27 of which have been from the bench. He has a contract at Everton until 2021.
Everton legend Southall does not believe that his old side is the right club for Everton, and stats seemingly back the former England goalkeeper up. Indeed, he has only shown his best in glimpses with Bernard and Richarlison top competition.
“Players are human beings and you have to be happy where you play. I see some players today that don’t look happy, sometimes you’re just not the right person for that club. That’s how I feel when I look at Theo Walcott at Everton,” Southall said.

TBR’s view – Should Walcott look for pastures new this summer?
Unfortunately for both Everton and Walcott, it might be best for the ex-Southampton star to leave Goodison Park and find a club in which he can become first choice. At Everton, he simply is not first choice.
Carlo Ancelotti is likely to bring in a few fresh faces this summer and that will only push Walcott down the pecking order. He is still easily Premier League quality, but maybe not good enough for a side with the spending power of Everton.
