'Never seen anything like it': Declan Rice admits he 'loves' Leeds fans in big Elland Road claim
Declan Rice has been speaking about some of the toughest grounds he’s played football at and named Elland Road as a place that’s tricky to visit.
The West Ham midfielder was speaking on the Tubes and Ange Golf Life channel and commenting on all things football and as well as naming the best players he’s faced, Rice also spoke of the best grounds he’s competed in.
And giving Leeds fans a compliment of sorts, Rice admitted that he loves playing at Elland Road and even enjoys taking the stick he gets from the fans inside the West Yorkshire stadium.
“Grounds like Leeds and Everton, they’re such tough grounds,” Rice said on Tubes and Ange’s Golf Life YouTube channel.
“Their players, are like strong men. Going to some grounds and it’s tough stadiums. Like going to Leeds, I’ve never seen anything like it. They’re proper. That’s what you love though. I love getting stick from opposition fans. I think they think you’re going to get all mad but I’m buzzing off it”.
Of course, there’s some rivalry between Leeds and West Ham fans but Rice is a level headed player, and his comments about Elland Road are fair game really.
TBR’s View: Elland Road Remains A Cauldron
There are few better places in English football than a full and bouncing Elland Road. Like so many older grounds in the country, it can have an air of magic about it on the right day.
Leeds fans really can be the proverbial twelfth man for Jesse Marsch’s side this season and Rice’s admission here is a recognition of the atmosphere the Leeds fans can create.
