Nelson Semedo has told The Telegraph that he is a fan of Aston Villa talisman Jack Grealish, while the Wolves star also lauded Southampton’s Nathan Redmond and Leicester City’s Harvey Barnes.
Semedo has been a key player during his first campaign at Molineux. The 27-year-old has made 23 starts for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in the Premier League.
It has not always been the easiest time for the right-back since his £27.5 million move. Nevertheless, Semedo has lauded the English top flight for being incredibly special – and he went on to pick out three players he has been particularly impressed by.
“What makes the Premier League so special is that any team who is in the last position can beat first place,” he told The Telegraph.
“You have players who don’t play for bigger teams at the ‘Big Six’ who stand out. [Harvey] Barnes at Leicester is a very good player. I really like Jack Grealish. I also really like [Nathan] Redmond at Southampton.”
Despite the rivalry, it is probably no surprise that Semedo has picked Grealish. The 25-year-old has taken his game to another level this season, scoring six and contributing 10 assists.
Similarly, Barnes has been brilliant for the Foxes. He has scored nine goals and provided four assists.
Redmond is arguably the surprise name Semedo has mentioned. He has only scored once and set up one goal.
Admittedly, he has played in fewer games than the other two. And he has produced some moments of real quality. But he is not necessarily one of the first names on Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team sheet.
But it says a lot about Redmond’s ability that Semedo has included him alongside the likes of Barnes and Grealish when listing some of his favourite players.
