Neil Warnock responds to suggestion he should replace Ruben Amorim at Manchester United

With the pressure mounting on Ruben Amorim at Manchester United, there’s been plenty of speculation on potential replacements. But could the Red Devils look toward Neil Warnock?

Amorim’s struggles at Old Trafford have continued this season, with the club 14th in the Premier League table after winning only two of their opening six fixtures.

His overall record since taking charge of Manchester United 11 months ago is troublesome. Amorim has won just 18 of his 48 games in the dugout and drawn 12 of them.

The rumour mill is already swirling about who might replace Amorim if that decision is required, and even though Warnock is retired from football management, he has thrown his name in the hat for this role.

Neil Warnock is ready for a call from Manchester United

A spoofed version of the Premier League table did the rounds on social media this week, with a small sentence summarising how each club feels now.

Manchester United’s statement said, ‘Paging Neil Warnock,’ in a nod to the fact that he’s often been the man pulled in by teams in crisis at the bottom end of the table.

Warnock took to X in a bid to respond to it, jokingly teasing that he’s open to the idea as he said, “Give me a call in January. 4-3-3.”

While the idea of Warnock taking charge of the 20-time champions might be hard to fathom, the formation change he’d look to bring is something many fans would love.

One of the biggest critiques of Amorim is his unwillingness to change his 3-4-3 formation. His lack of plan B means that Manchester United have become quite predictable.

Gary Neville believes the squad doubts Amorim’s system, and if true, that will cause problems for him if he continues with it.

What is Manchester United’s stance on Ruben Amorim’s future?

Manchester United heavily backed Amorim during the summer from a financial perspective, spending £232.4 million on their squad improvements

Sir Jim Ratcliffe looked to help Amorim bring in players who suited Amorim’s formation and style, but so far those new faces haven’t made the desired impact.

TBR Football revealed that Manchester United’s hierarchy is concerned about Amorim due to this season’s results.

That is why the club are doing their due diligence on potential replacements, with Gareth Southgate, Oliver Glasner, Andoni Iraola, and Kieran McKenna all being on that list.
