Neil McCann has questioned the attitude of Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos during BBC Live’s coverage of the 1-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League – amid reports the Colombian could leave Ibrox soon.
Morelos, 24, scored a whopping 29 goals last season for Rangers but failed to net a league goal after the turn of the year. Heavy interest has come in for the striker since January, with BBC claiming Lille have held talks with Rangers.
On Thursday night, Rangers faced a difficult task of overturning a 3-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen at Ibrox. The challenge was too tall an order, as Moussa Diaby scored the only goal of the game for Leverkusen in the second half.
Morelos struggled up top and looks a shadow of the confident player that was banging in goals against Porto and Feyenoord last season. Ex-Rangers man McCann questioned the attacker’s attitude.
TBR’s view – Rangers need to cash in on Morelos
Even Steven Gerrard stated after the match that his head has been turned. The Colombian’s first touch was all over the pitch, he lacked any kind of threat and it would be a surprise to see him start against St. Mirren.
Kemar Roofe is a more than adequate replacement and Cedric Itten is an exciting prospect. Bringing in a fee of anything in the region of £15million or more would be excellent business for the Gers.
