Celtic manager Neil Lennon has claimed that captain Scott Brown has a huge role to play in the fixture against Lazio on Thursday night.
The Bhoys hosts the Italian club at Parkhead in the Europa League group stages and will be looking to maintain their position at the top of their group.
They have made a strong start with a draw against Stade Rennais and a win over CRF Cluj, but now face a Lazio team with a number of talented individuals.
The Serie A outfit have the likes of Ciro Immobile and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who are both household names with star quality.
Lennon believes that it will be a night handmade for experienced midfielder Brown to run the show and expects him to play an important role in guiding his team too a result.
“He’s our captain and his experience is vital tomorrow night. His reading of the game and athleticism is as good as ever. He’ll be pivotal in stopping anything Lazio can create. His leadership qualities will be vital tomorrow night,” Lennon said, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.
Brown has seen plenty of big nights in Europe for Celtic and he will be a big inspiration to his teammates around him.
The 34-year-old central midfielder hasn’t quite been in peak form so far this season, but remains an ever-present in Lennon’s team and he’s capable of raising his levels for the Lazio showdown.
It may be Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard that is the real star though for the Scottish giants, as he’s the top-class player that looks capable of performing against the best and it will be intriguing to see how he copes.
