Celtic manager Neil Lennon has voiced his excitement after his side completed the signing of Brighton defender Shane Duffy on Wednesday morning on loan.
The Bhoys have signed the centre-back on a season-long loan from Premier League outfit Brighton and he’s arrived to try help reinforce the backline.
Duffy, 28, has proven himself to be a quality Premier League performer in recent years and is a full Republic of Ireland international too, which is why his capture looks a real shrewd one on paper.
The colossus defender is someone with a no-nonsense approach that is great in the air, but also comfortable with the ball at his feet too.
Lennon expects the new signing to be a real leader in the dressing room following his loan move to the Scottish champions and is thrilled that the transfer is now done.
“We are delighted to bring a player of Shane’s quality to Celtic. He is an international player with so many great attributes. He is leader and he’s a warrior – someone with real ability and who will also give us that great physical presence,” Lennon told the club’s official website.
“I know too he is a player who will add great personality to the dressing room. This is a real coup for the Club. From the off, Shane wanted to come to Celtic and we are delighted we have been able to fend off English Premier League interest.”

TBR’s View:
Celtic certainly haven’t looked at their best defensively at the start of the 2020/21 season and the arrival of a strong commanding centre-back is ideal to try help fix that problem.
After the club suffering the disappointment of being eliminated the Champions League knockout rounds, the Bhoys have now given their supporters something to cheer about with a signing that should immediately improve the XI if he can settle quickly.
With Rangers starting the new league season in impressive form, it’s a real statement of intent from Celtic to sign Duffy and show their Old Firm rivals that they are desperate in their pursuit of a 10th consecutive domestic top-flight title.
