Celtic manager Neil Lennon picked out defender Greg Taylor for his impressive performance on Wednesday night.

The Bhoys managed to win 3-0 away at St Johnstone in the league and rip them to shreds in the first-half.

Olivier Ntcham, James Forrest and Leigh Griffiths were all on the scoresheet within the opening 26 minutes to wrap up three points early on.

The Scottish champions are five points clear still of Rangers at the top of the table, but have played a game more.

Taylor made his first league start since early December and made the most of his opportunity in the team.

The 22-year-old left-back put in a brilliant cross to assist Griffiths for his goal and was a real offensive threat all game from the flank.

“Greg Taylor I thought had a fantastic game. That’s the best he’s played,” Lennon said, as quoted by the club’s official Youtube account.

“It’s funny we were working on his crossing yesterday and he put about three or four great crosses in during the first-half. His all-round game tonight was superb and I’m so happy for him.”

TBR’s View:

Taylor has had to be patient in a Celtic shirt since his summer arrival from Kilmarnock and he’s not quite made the impact that many expected.

But the young full-back certainly looked the part in midweek and he surely has to be in line for more opportunities if he can replicate that kind of performance again.

His long-term plan has to be to try overtake teammate Boli Bolingoli in the pecking order for the left-back spot and the Scotsman definitely has the potential to do just that.
