Celtic boss Neil Lennon has been singing the praises of Bhoys goalkeeper Scott Bain after an impressive display against Lille in the Europa League.
The Celtic number two stepped up in the absence of the injured Vasilis Barkas and helped the Glasgow club to a 2-2 draw in France.
He saved a penalty from Lille’s big-money summer signing Jonathan David which eventually helped Celtic earn a draw, having let a 2-0 lead slip.
It was a good display from the player and Lennon has now made it clear that Bain has every chance of pushing Barkas out of the first-choice starting role.
“Absolutely, yeah,” Lennon said, confirming Bain could now start ahead of Barkas, as reported by the Scottish Sun. “Scott was always in and around it anyway. He’s trained well and the time between coming back in June. I think there has been a real sea change in his attitude to his work.

“He’s in the gym very early in the morning and he’s reaping the benefits of that.
“We put a lot of trust in him and faith as we do in Barkas as well, but Scott has done his chances no harm with another big performance.”
Celtic needed a new goalkeeper this summer after losing both Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon.
In the end, after links with several different stoppers, Celtic settled on the Greek goalkeeper and brought him in from AEK Athens in a deal worth a reported (BBC) £4.5 million.
However, plenty of Celtic fans have voiced their displeasure with the form their summer signing has been exhibiting. Several errors so far have some Celtic fans wondering if Barkas is up for the job and some have even been calling for Bain to get his chance.
Based on last night’s display and the comments from his boss, it might be those Celtic fans will be getting their wish.
