Celtic manager Neil Lennon praised James Forrest for his performance in the win over Ross County on Saturday.

The Bhoys recored a convincing 3-0 home victory at Parkhead in the Scottish Premiership fixture and are five points clear at the top of the table, but second-placed Rangers have played two games fewer.

Callum McGregor opened the scoring at the weekend with a first-half penalty, before striker Odsonne Edouard netted a quick-fire brace in the second period.

The reigning Scottish champions have resumed after the winter break with a cup victory and back-to-back league wins, as they look to continue their domestic dominance

Lennon picked out Forrest for his display on his return from injury and he completed 90 minutes int he contest.

The right-winger assisted one of Edouard’s goals and also went close to scoring himself with a header.

“I was delighted with some of the other performances as well. McGregor, Mikey Johnston coming back was good and Forrest looked more like his old self so there were a lot of good things to come out of the game,” Lennon said, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.

Forrest looked sharp with his individual display against Ross County and it was a good fixture to bring him back into the fold.

The Scottish winger arguably needed the winter break more than most, as his form had started to drop off slightly and now he should be able to kick back on again.

He’s played a lot of games this season and his record shows the impact he has, with 14 goals and 17 assists in 36 games across all competitions this campaign.
