Neil Harris makes claim about Leeds squad after Cardiff draw

Neil Harris has told Cardiff City’s official website that Leeds United’s current team is about as good as anything the Championship has seen for a number of years.

Leeds missed the chance to go back to the top of the table on Saturday. They led 3-0 against the Bluebirds inside the opening hour at Elland Road.

However, Cardiff produced a stunning turnaround to earn a point, with two goals coming in the final 10 minutes.

And after the game, Harris explained just how highly he rates Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.

“What a good side [Leeds] are,” he told the club’s official website. “The energy and ability they’ve got, the way they move the ball, the forward runs and the end product.

“They’re as good a side that there’s been in the Championship for years, but we certainly gave them a leg-up, with poor goals to give away.”

Of course, Harris’s big claim could be designed to make his squad feel even better about the result. But you could understand why some would agree with his comment about the Leeds squad.

Plenty of fans seemed to feel that the first hour was about as good as Leeds have played this season. And they looked to be on course to increase their advantage over the chasing pack in the play-off places.

The Elland Road faithful will probably have little interest in basking in the plaudits. There was an enormous sense of disappointment after squandering the three-goal lead. And, following the events of last season, there is likely to be an anxiety all the way up until their final position in the table is secured.
