Liverpool fans have been left fuming over claims in the Athletic that their rebuild won’t take place until next year.
Planning ahead
Liverpool’s owners FSG apparently don’t view this summer as the best time to invest heavily.
Instead, the American owners feel that 2022 could be the summer to ‘revitalise’ Liverpool’s squad.
But Reds fans fear that by then it could be a case of too little too late.
And they have expressed their concerns about the latest report on social media website Twitter.
Angry reaction
FSG may argue that their stance actually makes a lot of sense.
Liverpool could have more money with crowds set to return to Anfield, and the market may be slightly more stable next year.
But the Liverpool owners’ have very little credit in the bank, after riling supporters with their recent decision making.
The Reds board have come under pressure after their failed attempts to enter the Super League.
And this summer they will simply have to earn the trust of their supporters back, which is looking like an uphill task – given some of the reactions on social media.
