Tottenham Hotspur’s faint hopes of competing for the Premier League title this season were dashed at the weekend as they slumped to a loss against Southampton.
The Saints, who are in a relegation scrap, came from behind to beat Tottenham with goals from Yan Valery and James Ward-Prowse.
Harry Kane scored the opener for Spurs in the first-half but was also heavily criticised by supporters after the match.
The England international’s selfishness in front of goal has worked for Tottenham in the past as he has proved to be clinical with his shooting.
But Kane spurned some golden opportunities and really should have put Tottenham out of sight before Southampton fought back.

The 25-year-old’s return from injury has coincided with Tottenham’s dip in form which some have put down to the change in approach.
Son Heung-Min was thriving in the central striker role during Kane’s injury absence but he has since been forced to play in attacking midfield.
And against Southampton, he was dropped to the bench with Tottenham fans questioning that decision.
Below are some opinions from Spurs fans discussing Kane’s wastefulness in front of goal against Southampton.
