Arsenal suffered a poor opening day defeat to Brentford yesterday in the Premier League – but Emile Smith Rowe was one Gunners player to earn credit from supporters on social media.
Arsenal were beaten 2-0 away to London rivals and newly-promoted Brentford on Friday night. Mikel Arteta’s side didn’t get close enough to scoring themselves, while defensively they showed a real frailty.
Smith Rowe, 21, was perhaps the only individual for the visitors to get anywhere near his best levels.
The attacking midfielder has taken on the number 10 jersey at the Emirates Stadium this season and he did roll his sleeves up against Brentford.
However, it was a poor way to start the season from the team.

Arsenal fans wowed by Smith Rowe skill against Brentford
A selection of Arsenal supporters on social media did love a piece of skill from Smith Rowe in the second half despite a 2-0 loss.
The English playmaker produced a stunning half-turn just inside the Brentford half to evade an opponent. He preceded to drive into the opposition’s half and eventually saw his shot on goal saved by goalkeeper David Raya.
It was a game where they were lacking moments of quality, but Smith Rowe gave a preview into his game.
There is an obvious lack of goal threat that Arteta needs to try work out. However, Smith Rowe is someone who can play a leading role.
