A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have been giving their thoughts on the report linking the Ibrox side with a 26-year-old midfielder who has impressed for a newly-promoted team on the continent.

According to L’Equipe, Rangers have expressed an interest in Brest ace and Algeria international Haris Belkebla.

The report claims the Ibrox side has “come forward” and “could quickly make an offer” for the player, who is also said to be on the radar of Ligue 1-bound Lens.

Belkebla, who is under contract until 2022, has had a fantastic season with Brest, who finished 14th in Ligue 1 after being promoted from the French second tier last season.

The 5ft 10in ace, who was born in France but chose to play for Algeria, has one cap for the North African country, which came in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in November.

Belkebla is a physical, defensive-minded midfielder, but with Ryan Jack, Glen Kamara and Steven Davis already on the Ibrox books, it may not be a position that needs filling.

That said, some Rangers fans noted how their side lack a conventional DM who breaks things up and gets all over the pitch.

Here is some of the reaction from Bears on social media:
