Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele produced arguably his best performance in a Spurs shirt so far, and he could be key in helping the team enjoy a real renaissance.

The French dynamo was extremely lively against Southampton on Saturday, and helped himself to his second goal of the season.

The shackles appear to be dropping off the summer signing from Lyon now, and fans will be excited to see the 22-year-old now that he has had time to settle in.

The team as a collective have been struggling of late, and it’s been a generally sluggish start to 2019/20 from Spurs.

But their club-record signing should be looking to become the team’s driving force to inspire a renaissance.

Ndombele will take great confidence from his dominating performance against the Saints.

Fans are finally starting to see why the club paid £53.8 million (rising to £62.8 million, BBC Sport) for him, and he is absolutely the man to inspire a good run of form now for Spurs, along with the talismanic Harry Kane.

He is the type of player who has the ability to control games from the centre of the park, and Spurs need someone to shine with Christian Eriksen’s form inconsistent.

Spurs have responded to the farce at Colchester, now they need to string some wins together. With the Premier League fixture list looking favourable, the improving Ndombele could be massive.
