Liverpool have released a training ground clip of Thiago Alcantara producing a remarkable piece of skill – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have responded by claiming it’s proof he needs to start every game.
The Reds signed Thiago from Bayern Munich last summer for £20million (BBC), which is a transfer fee that could eventually rise to £25million with bonuses.
He arrived at Anfield a highly-rated midfielder with an impressive CV and experience of performing at the highest level. However, a knee injury during the first half of his debut campaign on Merseyside has disrupted him.
The Spain internatonal has been back playing regularly since the turn of the year with Jurgen Klopp’s squad, but isn’t always a guaranteed starter.
Thiago has started just three of the past six games across all competitions, completing 90 minutes just once.

A selection of Liverpool fans on social media showed huge support for Thiago on social media after the club posted training footage of a magical flicked pass from the midfielder.
Klopp has struggled to find the right kind of balance in the centre of the park that has existed so effortlessly in recent years at the club, and is perhaps still trying to get the best from the deep-lying playmaker who can dictate games in possession..
