Rangers’ youngsters staged a late fight-back to snatch a 2-2 draw with Hibernian yesterday. The game once again shone the spotlight on several top young talents at Ibrox. But whilst the likes of Eros Grezda, Jamie Barjonas, and Serge Atakayi will undoubtedly be known to fans and boss Steven Gerrard, it was a lesser-known name who caught the eye.

Nathan Young-Coombes played a key role in the Rangers comeback and showcased once again why he might be a future star at Ibrox.

Firstly, he won the penalty which saw Rangers get back into the game. Not only did he win it, but he also took it to make the score 2-1.

But he was not done there. The young forward then provided the assist for Barjonas to grab an equaliser in the dying minutes.

The most impressive aspect of the performance has to be his age. Young-Coombes is just 16-years-old.

Signed from Chelsea in February, the England youth international has been shining for the club’s youth teams and is now impressing in Graeme Murty’s side despite being one of the youngest players on the pitch.

It may be some while before Steven Gerrard is giving him a chance in the Rangers first-team. However, with no stand-out third-choice striker behind Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe, it is not inconceivable that the 16-year-old might already be on the Rangers manager’s radar.

The attacker does not turn 17 until January and Rangers might just have a real talent on their hands.
