Nathan Young-Coombes has taken to Instagram to confirm that he has left Rangers and secured a move to newly-promoted Premier League club Brentford. It comes just two years after leaving Chelsea in the opposite direction of Billy Gilmour – but he has now returned to the capital.
England Under-17 ace Young-Coombes instantly caught the eye in the Light Blue of Rangers. Not only did he consistently score for the Under-18 side, but he also produced on the UEFA Youth League stage against the rest of Europe’s up-and-coming talent. He scored four goals in five for Rangers.
However, Young-Coombes has not had a settled progression through the academies. He now joins Brentford who are already his fourth club – and third London-based side, having previously joined Chelsea from Crystal Palace. He confirmed on Instagram that he has joined the Bees.
Reports emerged earlier in the year that Brentford were closing in on a cut-price deal for the talent. Now, a move has gone through. Indeed, it would have been difficult for the young attacker to break past the likes of Ryan Kent, Kemar Roofe, Ianis Hagi and plenty more in the final third.
He now joins a Brentford side that finally gained promotion to the Premier League for the first time, having missed out last season in the play-offs. He will be looking to break into the side sooner rather than later, but hsi two-year stint at Ibrox has now come to an end.
