Nathan Jones makes honest Leeds United promotion prediction

Luton Town boss Nathan Jones has told Leeds Live that he believes injuries are the only thing that stands in the way of Leeds United reaching the Premier League.

The Hatters boss saw his side claim a memorable 1-1 draw at Elland Road last night. Stuart Dallas cancelled out Harry Cornick’s opener to leave both teams with a share of the spoils.

Jones recently took over at Kenilworth Road and he was desperately impressed by what he saw from last night’s hosts.

Leeds sit top of the Championship and hold a six-point cushion on Brentford who currently occupy third place.

Jones thinks fitness woes are the only thing that can now deny Leeds a place in the Premier League.

He told Leeds Live: “I think the only thing that will stop Leeds going up is injuries. West Brom are wonderful, Brentford are superb in real form and it’ll be two from three.

“Leeds and Brentford can really rip you apart. I’m not a betting man, I’m a Christian, but if I was, I would put money on Leeds and one of the others.”

Marcelo Bielsa’s men have looked a good bet for promotion for the majority of the campaign.

The Luton boss may well have a point regarding injuries, however, with the Leeds squad on the small side.

Pablo Hernandez has struggled with fitness and Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas picked up knocks during last night.

Cooper and Hernandez will probably play against Blackburn but Dallas may well miss out.

Leeds would have to monumentally mess things up from here but Bielsa will desperately hope to secure promotion at the earliest possible opportunity.
