Nathan Broadhead admits he pushed for Everton loan exit

Nathan Broadhead has been discussing his loan move away from Everton this summer. The Welsh talent was handed a new two-year deal by Everton but immediately headed out on loan to League One side Burton Albion on a season-long deal.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo this week, he revealed it was his desire to make the move away which pushed his temporary exit through.

“It was my own decision to go on loan because I wanted game-time in men’s football and I thought it would serve me better than playing u-23s football.

“It’s a lot different to playing under-23s. It’s more physical, more second balls but it’s good for my career, playing at whatever level, and I can take playing League One football into whoever I play in the future.”

Broadhead has, so far, done well at the Pirelli Stadium. Whilst he is not pulling up any trees his record of three goals 11 games is not a bad return from the winger.

Nigel Clough appears to only have good things to say about the player but the 21-year-old probably needs to have a stellar year at the club if he is going to prove himself a future Everton first-team player.

One of the problems he has is in leaving, Anthony Gordon has slotted into his role in the under-23s and become the name on every Everton fans’ lips when it comes to the next crop of talent at Finch Farm.

The Welshman will have to ensure he finds some very impressive form if he is to have the Everton hierarchy considering him a long-term prospect.
