Napoli striker Fernando Llorente will be looking for “revenge” when he faces Liverpool tonight, The Liverpool Echo reports. Llorente was part of Tottenham Hotspur’s team in the Champions League final last season as Liverpool triumphed.
Llorente spoke about how “painful” it was to lose in the final against the Reds. When Napoli host Liverpool tonight, he has his own personal agenda. He will be hoping to make an impact and get some revenge for the Champions League heartbreak last season.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s game, the Spanish striker said (via The Liverpool Echo): “It was painful to lose the final, it’s certainly revenge but above all it’s an opportunity to show that we can stay at their level.”
Llorente only played for nine minutes in the final but it is clearly still sore. He came on in the 81st minute as Tottenham chased a late equaliser but Divock Origi sealed a 2-0 win for Liverpool instead. The 34-year-old will be hoping to inflict defeat upon Liverpool tonight.
TBR’s view
Liverpool will be well aware of Llorente’s game plan and Virgil Van Dijk can cope with his aerial threat. But the veteran Spaniard has a personal point to prove after last year’s heartbreak.
He was a Champions League runner-up with Juventus and then again with Spurs. At this stage of his career, he might struggle to win the European title again. This is why he’ll be focused on enacting revenge tonight.
