Nottingham Forest are looking to strengthen their ranks ahead of their first season back in Europe for 30 years.

However, things haven’t exactly gone to plan for Forest, who have lost Anthony Elanga to Newcastle and are at risk of losing Morgan Gibbs-White to Tottenham Hotspur.

Forest have been in pursuit of wide players to replace Elanga and Ramon Sosa, who has also left the City Ground this summer.

However, one player Forest are pushing to sign is also being courted by Napoli, who have reportedly made a new bid for the winger.

Napoli submit new bid for Dan Ndoye

The player in question is Bologna’s Dan Ndoye, who Forest have been in talks to sign in recent weeks.

However, TBR Football previously confirmed that Napoli have also been pushing to sign Ndoye.

Fabrizio Romano has taken to X to claim that Napoli have submitted a new bid for Ndoye worth €40million (£34.8million).

Romano added that Ndoye has already agreed personal terms with Forest, who have offered €30million (£26million) to Bologna for the Switzerland star.

Graeme Bailey exclusively told TBR Football: “Dan Ndoye is a player Forest have liked for a long time, and now they have held talks, they could get him, but it is not easy.

“I’m told talks have gone well with Ndoye’s camp, and Forest think he would be a great fit for Nuno’s system, but there are others, particularly Napoli. Forest are trying for him.”

What Dan Ndoye could bring to Nottingham Forest

Ndoye has made a real name for himself at Bologna since his 2023 move from Basel, making 75 outings and registering 11 goals and eight assists.

The 24-year-old’s efforts have helped Bologna win the Coppa Italia and qualify for the 2024/25 Champions League.

Ndoye also shone for Switzerland at Euro 2024, helping his nation beat Italy en route to the quarter-finals.

“His development is fantastic, I can see it day after day,” Switzerland manager Murat Yakin told FourFourTwo.

““He has grown a lot since the Under-21s and it was a great decision to join Bologna.

“He’s young, I like having him in the team a lot with his unpredictability and his clear head; the goal against Germany helped to unblock him mentally.”

Meanwhile, former Switzerland international Blerim Dzemail said: “The crucial player is Ndoye.

“He’s doing things that nobody was expecting, he’s even scoring goals and that’s giving him even more confidence.”
