Nani reacts as Leeds and West Brom reportedly eye his £14.5m-rated teammate

Nani has discussed the future of his Orlando City teammate Daryl Dike after the striker has been linked with a move to Leeds United and West Brom.

Dike, 21, has admirers back across the pond after starring during a half-season loan spell at Barnsley – scoring nine goals in 19 league games.

He has returned to Orlando, but Dike could be back in England before Tuesday’s deadline. TeamTalk say Leeds and West Brom want Dike on loan.

West Brom are leading the charge, largely because Valerian Ismael is in charge – the man who took him to Barnsley from Orlando.

Mali XI If All Eligible Players Had Declared For Them

But Leeds offer Premier League football. Asked about Dike’s future amid a potential return to England, Nani gave his opinion on the USA star.

“He’s a young player. He has a lot of things he can still improve but he’s a player who can fly very high,” Nani told Goal, when asked about Dike. “He’s just got to keep his feet on the ground and continue to work hard and have a good mentality. He has all the qualities.

“He just needs to improve a couple of things that will make him have more interest. We know he can score goals but he’s still young. Let’s see what happens in the next year. He’s still our player, he still has work to do with us, and he still needs to continue to show he’s a great player.”

Why Leeds need Dyke despite Rodrigo, Roberts, after Nani claim

Nani clearly thinks Dike needs to remain – but is aware that eventually, the striker will return to English, or at least European football this summer.

Leeds need back-up for Patrick Bamford. Now, Tyler Roberts and Rodrigo are currently doing that job – but without Bamford, Leeds struggle.

Proof of that was in last season’s 3-0 defeat to Crawley, and then Tuesday night’s win over Crewe – in which Bamford started on the bench.

Rodrigo and Roberts are not number nines. They are strikers, but ones that need to play with a nine. At leeds, they are better used in attacking midfield.

Leeds need another Bamford-like striker and Dike is certainly of that mould. If he joins, do Leeds really need Rodrigo?
