Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has expressed his desire for captain Laurent Koscielny to patch up his differences with the club, according to the Sun.
Koscielny has refused to go on the club’s pre-season tour of America but Monreal feels that the situation can be resolved and the Frenchman can come in and play next season.
He said: “We respect Laurent. He has played for Arsenal for a long time and he is our captain. What I would like to see is that they fix the problem between them. And I think they will do that.
“Can he still carry on at Arsenal? Yeah, why not? We are talking about one of the great clubs in football and if the armband is offered of course I will accept.”

It’s interesting that there does not appear to be any ill will from Monreal’s part – on behalf of the squad – towards Koscielny despite a disrespectful snub of the tour.
The Frenchman is meant to be a leader and part of that is being selfless and putting the club first – not refusing to travel or train because you want to be released to leave on a free.
It’s tricky to see how Koscielny can solve his situation with Arsenal really – he doesn’t look to be close to apologising or making any steps to repairing the damage.
So £70,000-a-week (Spotrac) ace Monreal may find himself offered the armband, especially as he was among the senior leadership group of players last season.
