Liverpool are yet to see the best out of Naby Keita this season since he arrived in the summer, but he can be the Rolls-Royce midfielder that the team are crying out for.
According to the Telegraph, the Reds are hopeful that James Milner will return to fitness within a month after picking up a hamstring injury in the draw to Manchester City at the weekend.
That will leave an opening in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI and Keita is the man to fill his teammate’s shoes.
The 23-year-old made his switch to Anfield in the summer and proved in Germany with RB Leipzig that he’s an all-action midfielder that is strong in most areas.
Keita has an excellent work-rate and can be defensively switched on in his own half, while he is also effective when pushing forward into the final third.
The central midfielder was directly involved in 16 goals across all competitions last season for Leipzig, but is yet to replicate that form on Merseyside and is still adjusting to his surroundings.
But the door is certainly open for him in the next month to break into the Liverpool XI, with games against Huddersfield Town, Red Star Belgrade and Cardiff City to play in October.
Keita can be a serious goalscoring threat from midfield when he gets his first on the board and has the ability to become a vital part of the team.
