Newcastle United produced an injury-time miracle at Goodison Park on Tuesday night as they came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 in the final minute – and Nabil Bentaleb has reacted to the rescued point on his Instagram story.
Bentaleb, 25, was confirmed as Newcastle’s first signing of the January window on Tuesday afternoon – moving to St. James’ Park on a loan-to-buy deal from German Bundesliga side Schalke. It is believed a move can be made permanent at £10million.
On the pitch, goals from Moise Kean and Dom Calvert-Lewin put Everton 2-0 up and with moments left in injury time, The Toffees looked as though they were cruising to a 2-0 win on Merseyside. But Florian Lejeune had other ideas.
The French defender scored his first goal in the 94th minute – acrobatically finding the net – before scoring a second less than a minute later. Bentaleb reacted on his Instagram story to the incredible draw.
TBR’s view – Bruce has Newcastle players playing for him
When he first joined, Bruce had the pressure from fans to follow Rafa Benitez – a favourite – as well as dealing with the likes of Mike Ashley and keeping a Championship-quality side in the Premier League.
He has since improved upon Benitez’s base. Miguel Almiron has transformed, Allan Saint-Maximin has shone and the signing of Bentaleb could take Newcastle to a new level. Tuesday proved the players are on board with Bruce, and fighting with him.
