Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko has been praised by Sky Sports pundit Andy Hinchcliffe for his heroics in Tuesday night’s League Cup semi-final win.

The France international put in a superb display as Jose Mourinho’s Spurs ran out 2-0 winners over Brentford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Sissoko scored his first goal since December 2019 to break the deadlock in the 12th minute of the game with a well-placed header beyond the reach of David Raya.

Later on in the game, the 31-year-old picked out Son Heung-min with a cross which was volleyed wide.

As well as his goalscoring contributions, Sissoko’s all-round game was great, pushing on well in transitions, and caused problems with his tackling and surging runs high upfield.

“Moussa Sissoko is my man of the match,” Hinchcliffe told Sky Sports (21:36).

“He scored a great goal but he’s epitomised the hard work Tottenham have done tonight, on and off the ball.”

Sissoko responded superbly to being dropped from the starting XI in recent games with a great performance in a big game en route to the League Cup final.

While his work in midfield wasn’t unexpected, it was surprising and enjoyable to see him grab a goal – not only his first goal for over year but his first effort of the season.
