'My last season': Kieran Trippier now makes claim about Dele Alli during his time at Tottenham

Kieran Trippier has now claimed that during his last season at Tottenham Hotspur, Dele Alli was still ‘flying’ under Mauricio Pochettino.

Alli burst onto the scene in north London during the 2015-16 campaign after making the switch from MK Dons.

The 26-year-old was viewed as one of the brightest talents in Europe as he helped Pochettino’s men challenge for the Premier League title.

But after the Argentine left, Alli struggled to find consistency under Pochettino’s successors and was sold to Everton back in January.

The Englishman is now on loan at Besiktas and Newcastle United defender Trippier has been speaking about his former teammate on Under The Cosh’s YouTube channel

Trippier makes claim about Alli

Trippier claims that Alli was still ‘flying’ under Pochettino during the 2018-19 campaign, the year Spurs reached the Champions League final.

“Poch was brilliant with Dele to be fair and Dele was flying at Tottenham,” he said.

“It’s one of those where I left and went to Atletico Madrid and he was there for two years after.

“But even my last season there he was flying, he’s a great lad, but Poch were brilliant with him.”

Alli’s form had started to dip during that campaign after struggling with persistent hamstring injuries.

He still managed to post decent numbers that year and in the following campaign after Pochettino was replaced by Jose Mourinho.

But after falling out-of-favour under the Portuguese boss, his form completely fell off a cliff thereafter.

Alli managed just one Premier League goal in his last seasons with the club, which represented a massive decline from a player who managed 27 goal involvements during the 2016-17 campaign.

It was a massively disappointing ending after what was such a promising start to his Spurs career.
